BLW Sports Quota Notification 2026: 25 Posts, Apply by 12 Oct

Banaras Locomotive Works, Varanasi (Indian Railways) has published Employment Notice No. Sports Quota/02/2026-27 (file BLW(P)/Recruitment/Sports/KOTA/2026-27, dated 24 August 2026) for 25 sportspersons under Sports Quota (Open Advertisement) for 2026–27. The same insertion appeared in Employment News, 12–18 September 2026. Indian sportspersons who meet the printed sports norms and the Level-wise educational bar can apply online from 12 September 2026 to 12 October 2026. The BLW home page points the 2026 sports drive to blwrecruitment.in (the host showed a “coming soon” screen before the opening date). The unit is recruiting for men’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling and handball. Pay matrix printed in Employment News is Level-5 (2 posts), Level-2 (8 posts) and Level-1 (15 posts). There is no community reservation (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-servicemen) on these sports-quota seats. Posting is at BLW, Varanasi. Read the unit notice and the Employment News text before paying the fee — sports certificates, age and education are all cut-off sensitive.

Eligibility

Only the sports listed in the advertisement are accepted. Certificates must match the federation and the event name printed. A player who has already been appointed against sports quota in Railways in a way that bars a second appointment should read the “already appointed” clause.

Selection process

Exam pattern

There is no CBT in this drive. Shortlisting is on documents; selection weightage is trials plus sports achievements plus educational marks, as printed in Employment News (game skill / physical / coach observation, then achievement marks, then education marks). A candidate assessed NOT FIT in trials is not considered further.

How to apply

1. Read the BLW sports-quota notice and the Employment News 12–18 September 2026 text.

2. Open blw.indianrailways.gov.in and use the Sports Quota Recruitment-2026 link (it points to blwrecruitment.in).

3. Register with a working mobile and email. Fill one discipline / position only if the form allows a single choice.

4. Upload photo, signature, sports certificates, education and ID as specified.

5. Pay the fee online. Keep the registration number.

6. Submit before 12 October 2026. Incomplete fee or missing annexures (including community declaration where a refund is claimed) can cancel the form.

Application fee

Payment is through the online gateway only. DD / IPO is not accepted in the Employment News text. Bank account details printed for BLW, Varanasi are for the portal reconciliation — do not send a casual transfer outside the form.

Salary / pay

Appointments are on the 7th CPC pay matrix Level-5, Level-2 or Level-1 plus railway allowances, as applicable after medical and joining. This is a regular railway appointment against sports quota, not a contract intern post. Exact Grade Pay wording in older letters is superseded by the Level printed in this notice.
