If no valid application comes for the five Level-5/4 posts, those five posts will be brought down to Level-3/2. A post is not filled from another position in the same game.

Eligibility
Age is 18 to 25 years as on 1 January 2027. The date of birth must fall between 02.01.2002 and 01.01.2009, both dates included. The notice allows no upper or lower age relaxation. The date of birth must match the Matriculation or equivalent certificate.

A person waiting for a final examination, or for its result, cannot apply. There is no relaxation in the minimum qualification, and the qualification must be from a government-recognised institution. A Clerk-cum-Typist must reach 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi within four years of appointment. Until then the appointment in that category stays provisional.
Recognised sports achievements must fall in the current financial year or the previous two, and the person must be an active player. The concluding day of the championship is the date that counts. The achievement must be on or after 01.04.2024.

A sportsperson who meets a higher level may apply for a lower level, and will be considered only for the level applied for. Cricket (men and women) has separate BCCI norms in the notice. In hockey (men), participation in an international tournament of four or more nations, or a semi-final place in the Senior National Championships, may be considered for Level-2 or Level-3. Volleyball certificates issued by the Volleyball Federation or its units after 25.06.2020 are not accepted. Certificates under the Association of Indian Universities and the international federations are accepted.
Selection
Eligible candidates are called for trials. The trial committee marks game skill, physical fitness and the coach’s observation out of 40. A candidate with 25 or more is FIT. A candidate below 25 is NOT FIT and is not taken to the next stage.

Appointment follows merit and the posts available. If marks are equal, the younger candidate is placed higher. Only a sportsperson who can be fitted into the Southern Railway team is considered. Original certificates are required on the trial day and at document verification. The recommended candidate must also meet the medical norm of the post.

Payment is online, by debit card, credit card or internet banking. Minorities in the notice are Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis). Economically backward class means annual family income below Rs 50,000. The concession certificate must be in the format on the RRC website and must be uploaded with the form.
