VRDE DRDO JRF Walk-in 2026: 5 Mechanical Posts

Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratory under the Ministry of Defence, has called Indian nationals for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) walk-in at Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The current cycle is for 5 Mechanical Engineering fellowships (the count can rise or fall with lab need). Eligible candidates must email willingness to kapilpuraswani.vrde@gov.in by 27 September 2026 and report at VRDE on 6 October 2026. Upper age is 28 years on the interview date. Post-wise vacancy

A wait-list panel can run for one year for future anticipated vacancies. Director, VRDE may not select anyone if no suitable candidate is found. Offer of fellowship does not create a right of absorption in DRDO.

Late arrival after 11:00 am on 6 October 2026 is not allowed. Plan stay for 7 October if the board continues interviews.

Selection process

The committee nominated by Director, VRDE is final. Misrepresentation or misconduct at any stage cancels the candidature. No TA/DA is paid for the interview or for joining.

How to apply

1. Download the notice and the handwriting form from drdo.gov.in vacancies.

2. Fill the form in your own handwriting. Affix a recent passport photograph on the top-right of the first page.

3. Email your willingness to kapilpuraswani.vrde@gov.in by 27 September 2026. The subject line must be exactly Application for the post of Junior Research Fellowship.

4. On 6 October 2026 report between 09:30 am and 11:00 am at VRDE, PO Vahannagar, Ahilyanagar – 414006 (Maharashtra).

5. Carry the filled form, attested copies of qualification, experience and caste (if applicable), originals for verification, and a government photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / passport). If a certificate is not in English, attach a self-attested English transcript.

6. Government / PSU / autonomous employees must produce a No Objection Certificate at interview.

Stipend and tenure

Monthly emoluments are ₹37,000 plus House Rent Allowance as admissible. Initial tenure is two years. It may be extended by a further two years, one year at a time, after a Review Committee assessment of performance. Director, VRDE may amend, modify or cancel the advertisement or a selection without assigning reasons.

• GATE scorecard (2024 / 2025 / 2026) if applying through the B.E. / B.Tech route

• Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) age relaxation

• Experience certificate if any service is claimed

• Originals of all the above, government photo ID, and NOC if already employed
