SSC JE Syllabus 2026

By Divya Attri Published: Updated: 7 min read

SSC JE Syllabus 2026 is the syllabus.

SSC JE Syllabus 2026 is printed inside the Staff Selection Commission notice for the Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 (uploaded on ssc.gov.in on 2 September 2026). Tentative vacancies are 1,748 for JE (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / Telecom) and Scientific Assistant, IMD. Online apply was 2–22 September 2026, 23:00 hrs; fee till 23 September; correction 28–30 September. Paper-I is tentatively October/November and Paper-II December. Paragraphs 13–14 of the same PDF set the papers, negative marking and the indicative topic list. This page restates those official units in our own words — it is not a reprint of any coaching site.

SSC JE Syllabus 2026

Download the source file: Notice of JE 2026 (official PDF). A 16 September 2026 reminder kept the 22 September close — no extra window. Engineering questions for Civil, Electrical and Mechanical sit at about diploma level. CS/IT, Electronics & Telecommunication, Physics and Telecommunication sit at about graduation level (para 14.1).

Paper-I: Reasoning and General Awareness

General Intelligence & Reasoning (para 14.2.1)

Verbal and non-verbal items. The notice lists analogies, similarities and differences, space visualisation, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship ideas, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, number series, plus work with abstract symbols and simple computation.

General Awareness (para 14.2.2)

Surroundings and how they apply to society, current events, and everyday science that an educated person is expected to know. India and neighbours: history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, scientific research. The notice says these items do not need a specialist textbook. Extra coaching lists (sports, books, awards) are not printed here — stay with para 14.2.2.

How shortlisting works

Step

Official rule

Paper-I

Qualifying CBT; minimum marks in para 18; separate lists for JE Civil, JE Electrical & Mechanical, SA IMD, JE Telecom

Paper-II

Only those shortlisted; final merit from normalised Paper-II

Electrical vs Mechanical

Different papers — scores are also normalised against each other (para 13.18)

IMD Parts D/E/F

Treated as different shifts for normalisation
