PM YASASVI Scholarship 2026: Apply on NSP, up to ₹1.25 lakh

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment runs the umbrella scheme PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM-YASASVI) for OBC, EBC and DNT students. For Academic Year 2026–27 the National Scholarship Portal scholarships.gov.in has been open from 1 June 2026. Applications are online only after a one-time OTR (14-digit). There is no paper form. The school component that most Class 9–12 readers search for is Top Class Education in Schools: identified Top Class Schools, family income below ₹2.50 lakh a year, and assistance up to ₹75,000 a year in Class 9–10 and ₹1.25 lakh a year in Class 11–12 (tuition, hostel and other school charges on actuals, within the ceiling). Ministry SOP also requires at least 60% in Class 8 (for Class 9 entry) or Class 10 (for Class 11 entry). PM-YASASVI clubs older OBC/EBC/DNT scholarships and a hostel scheme. It is not the 2022 YASASVI Entrance Test (YET) cycle, not a school-board scholarship, and not a private “₹1.25 lakh guaranteed” offer. Slots for Top Class Schools are state-wise and announced by the Ministry; sanction is on merit of the previous class through NSP, with a separate boys’ and girls’ merit list. At least 30% of school slots are reserved for girls. Payment is DBT into an Aadhaar-seeded account. Each scheme card on NSP prints its own last date after you log in with OTR — confirm that date on the portal before you treat any third-party calendar as final.

Sub-schemes under PM-YASASVI

On NSP, pick the exact scheme name that matches your class and institute. A Class 9 student in a listed Top Class School does not apply under the college scheme. Pre-matric / post-matric amounts are not the same as the ₹75,000 / ₹1.25 lakh school ceiling.

Important dates

Do not rely on a blog’s “31 August” or “31 October” unless that date is on your NSP application screen. The Ministry guideline says school slots for each state and class are to be announced in April; watch socialjustice.gov.in and NSP for the 2026–27 slot note.

What the school scholarship covers

Top Class School funding is meant for meritorious OBC / EBC / DNT students from Class 9 through Class 12 in schools shortlisted as Top Class Schools (public, aided or private) that have held a 100% pass record in Class 10 and 12, as selected by the Ministry committee. Only schools with a UDISE+ code on the NSP list can verify you. Assistance is for tuition, hostel and other charges the school requires, on actuals, up to the class-wise ceiling. It is not a cash prize above the bill.

Eligibility (Top Class School)

Indian citizenship is assumed for a central scholarship. Category and income certificates must match the state/UT of domicile as the portal asks. The school nodal officer verifies the form online; the state confirms it. Meeting eligibility does not guarantee a slot if the state merit list is full.

College top-class (brief)

If you hold a seat in a notified top-class college, the college chapter allows full tuition and non-refundable charges subject to a ceiling of ₹2.00 lakh a year in private-sector institutes and ₹3.72 lakh a year for private flying clubs (CPL / type rating), plus living expenses ₹3,000 a month, books and stationery ₹5,000 a year, and a one-time computer/laptop up to ₹45,000. Selection follows the institute’s entrance merit and the slots given to that institute. Apply on NSP with income, caste, bank, admission rank and fee details. Extra eligible students may fall back to Post-Matric Scholarship if they still meet PMS rules.

Selection process

There is no YET written exam in the current school SOP: merit is the previous board/class exam. The Ministry may still change process notes — read the live SOP and NSP FAQs.

How to apply

1. Open only scholarships.gov.in. Do not type Aadhaar or bank details on a blog form.

2. Complete OTR at OTR login using Aadhaar or EID. Face authentication uses the NSP OTR app (Play Store). Unlock Aadhaar biometrics if face-auth fails (UIDAI lock/unlock).

3. Note the 14-digit OTR. It stays for the whole academic career.

4. Log in under Students → Apply for Scholarship. Choose AY 2026–27 and the exact PM-YASASVI / Top Class / Pre-Matric / Post-Matric scheme that fits you.

5. Fill personal, school/college, previous marks, income, caste and bank fields. Upload what NSP asks (certificates may also come via DigiLocker where linked).

6. Submit and track status on the dashboard. Reply if the form is marked defective before the institute last date on the card.

PwBD applicants must first consent to share UDID on the UDID portal, as the NSP announcement requires, or the form will not submit. You may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes from AY 2026–27 if you meet each scheme’s rules.

Application fee

Nobody is authorised to charge a “YASASVI processing fee” on WhatsApp. Locate a CSC at locator.csccloud.in.
