Maximum age for every post in the eligibility PDF is 50 years as on the closing date of applications. Age relaxation is as per Government of India rules. Qualification (essential, short)

  • Deputy Secretary (Gen.-Admn.) — Master’s in a language (55%) or MBA / Public Administration (55%) with seven years as Assistant Director / Assistant Secretary / Administrative Officer / Assistant Registrar or equivalent in Level-10 and above; literary-event experience; clean integrity record. Selection by interview. Five-year tenure; second term at the Appointing Authority’s discretion.

  • Assistant Editor — Postgraduate in an Akademi-recognised language / literature; English / Hindi plus a regional language; five years’ copy-editing of literary manuscripts; basic computers. Interview.

  • Senior Library & Information Assistant — Bachelor of Library Science; five years in a library of standing; library computer applications. Written test.

  • Junior Translation Officer — Graduate / Master’s combinations in Hindi–English as in the PDF, or a recognised translation diploma, plus three years’ literary translation in government / autonomous bodies. Written test.

  • Technical Assistant — Graduate; diploma in book publishing; five years in a press / publishing house / government book-publication unit; printing knowledge; edit literary material. Written test.

  • Programme Assistant — Graduate; five years in a literary, academic or government organisation or publishing house; meetings / conferences; literary material; computers. Written test. Bengaluru.

  • Publication Assistant — Graduate; diploma in printing or five years in press / publishing / government book publication; printing processes; computers. Written test.

  • Proof Reader-cum-General Assistant — Graduate with Hindi / English; proof-reading and proficiency in English / Hindi; computers. Written test.

  • Stenographer Grade-II — 10+2; 80 w.p.m. shorthand and good typing in English / Hindi; computers. Written test then qualifying stenography skill test.

  • Messenger-cum-Rider — 10+2; valid two-wheeler / car licence with three years’ experience; motor mechanics. Written test then driving skill test.

  • Van Driver — 10th or 10+2; valid LMV and HMV licence; minor repairs; three years’ driving. Written test then driving skill test.

A selected departmental candidate may be treated as promotion by selection on some posts. Only shortlisted candidates are called. No TA/DA. No interim correspondence. The Akademi may set extra shortlisting if applications are large. Selected staff can be transferred to any Sahitya Akademi office in India. Vacancy numbers may change.

Exam pattern

There is no Prelims–Mains calendar in this notice. Pattern is post-wise in the eligibility PDF. No negative marking on the objective part.

  2. Fill the form, paste a recent self-attested passport photograph, and attach self-attested copies of education, experience and caste / EWS / PwD certificates.

  3. Level-10 and above serving officers must enclose last five years’ APARs, integrity certificate and vigilance clearance.

  4. Central / State / autonomous / PSU employees apply through proper channel or produce NOC.

  5. Superscribe the envelope Application for the post of ________.

  6. Send by Speed Post or Registered Post to The Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan, 35 Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi-110001 so that it reaches by 21 October 2026.
