NIC Technical Assistant Notification 2026

National Informatics Centre has invited online applications for Scientific/Technical Assistant-A, a Group B non-gazetted scientific and technical post. NIC STA Notification 2026 is Advertisement No. NIC/STA/2026/2, on recruitment.nic.in. The form is open from 10:00 am on 01.09.2026 to 5:30 pm on 30.09.2026. Pay is Level-6 of the 7th CPC, Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400. Merit follows a valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is the parent ministry. The detailed advertisement and a shorter notice carry the same advertisement number. Online application is the only mode the notice accepts. The cut-off date for age, qualification and category is 30.09.2026, and the notice says that date stays even if the closing date is later extended. A selected person may be posted anywhere in India or outside India.

Vacancies by discipline

The detailed advertisement splits the 376 posts into three disciplines. The number is tentative, and NIC may raise or lower it. Horizontal reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities sits inside these figures.

In Computer Sciences, the 15 horizontal posts are locomotive disability 4, hard of hearing 4, and multiple disabilities 7. The multiple-disability line includes 3 backlog posts. Electronics has 1 locomotive disability and 1 hard of hearing. Data Science has the same pair, 1 and 1. The two-page notice prints a different overall split: UR 154, SC 56, ST 28, OBC (NCL) 101, EWS 37, and 18 horizontal PwBD posts including 3 backlog. Both documents print 376 posts.

Qualification, GATE and age

The essential qualification is a pass in M.Sc., MS, MCA, B.E. or B.Tech., in one field or in a combination, from this list: Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Sciences, Computer and Networking Security, Software System, Information Technology, Informatics. The degree must be held on 30.09.2026. The notice does not accept a claim of an equivalent qualification.

A valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026 is also required, in the paper that matches the discipline: Computer Science and Information Technology (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), or Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA). The candidate submits the best score from one of those years, in the discipline applied for. GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 carry equal weight. If scores tie, the older GATE year ranks higher, then the older candidate, then the higher percentage in the essential qualification.

SC, ST and OBC (NCL) age relaxation applies to posts reserved for that category. PwBD relaxation applies whether or not the post is reserved for them, if the post is identified as suitable. The notice also allows 5 years for a candidate already serving in a government organisation in the same line or an allied cadre, where that service would help in the advertised post.

Fee and how the form closes

An applicant who chooses more than one discipline pays Rs 800 for each discipline. Bank charges are extra. Cash, demand draft, pay order, cheque and challan are not accepted. The fee is not refunded. The application is complete only when registration, the form and document upload, fee payment where it applies, and the confirmation-page download are all finished. An unpaid or incomplete form is rejected. Name, category, address, mobile number and email cannot be changed after submission.

The form asks for a colour photograph (JPEG, 50 KB to 200 KB) and a signature in blue or black ink (JPEG, 10 KB to 50 KB). Certificates go up as PDF, 10 KB to 500 KB. Aadhaar-based authentication is used at every stage. Category certificates for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwBD must meet the dates and formats in the detailed advertisement. An EWS certificate is for financial year 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27. Document verification is at Delhi or at another place or mode that the competent authority approves. No TA or DA is paid for that verification.

Category-wise merit lists are prepared from the GATE score. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification before a provisional offer. NIC may modify or cancel the process. Further notices stay on recruitment.nic.in.
