Education

Junior Superintendent: a bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 55 percent, and 3 years of relevant experience in Level 5 or equivalent, or 8 years in Level 3 or above, in Central or State Government, autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings, or research organisations. Computer office applications are required.

Junior Technician Group-I: bachelor's degree in science with Chemistry or Physics as one subject, 55 percent. Group-II: bachelor's in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Ceramic or Materials Science, 55 percent, or a three-year diploma after 10+2 in those branches with 55 percent and one year of relevant experience. Group-III: Electrical or Electronics, same degree or diploma pattern. Group-IV: Civil, Mining or B.Arch., or a Civil or Mining diploma with one year. Group-V: Computer Science or Information Technology, same pattern. Each technician post also requires computer office applications.

Junior Library Assistant: bachelor's in Library and Information Science with 55 percent, or a diploma in that subject with 55 percent plus a bachelor's in any discipline, or a two-year integrated M.Lib. and Information Science with 55 percent. Assistant Engineer: bachelor's or diploma in Civil or Electrical, with 5 years of relevant experience after a degree or 8 years after a diploma, at Level 6 or above. Junior Engineer: B.E. or B.Tech. in Civil with 55 percent and 2 years, or a three-year Civil diploma with 55 percent and 3 years. Junior Translation Officer: bachelor's in Hindi and three years of English-Hindi and Hindi-English translation after the degree, in the organisations named in the advertisement.

22.09.2026 notice

Internal candidates, including contractual employees, get relaxation of the upper age limit up to 55 years if they have worked in the Institute for a minimum of 5 years. The notice quotes Office Memorandum IIT(BHU)/ADM/118/RR/Gen/2025-26/2394 dated 24.03.2026.

An "Others" category is added under the PWD section on SAMARTH for candidates with disabilities who are not covered under the listed categories. Those candidates can update the application from 22.09.2026 to 01.10.2026. The notice says no request on this point will be entertained after 01.10.2026.

Fee and application

The fee is paid on the portal by internet banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. It is not refunded.

1. Read the advertisement and the 22.09.2026 notice.

2. Apply at iitbhunt.samarth.edu.in by 01.10.2026, 05:00 PM.

3. Send the printout and self-attested copies by Speed Post to the Registrar, IIT (BHU), Varanasi 221005. The envelope should carry the application number, advertisement number, and the post name and code. The hard copy deadline in the extension is 08.10.2026, 05:00 PM.

4. Persons in government or similar service upload a no-objection certificate and vigilance clearance with the online form, or produce both at the interview.
