Posts and reservation

The printed roster total is 787. Women who are native residents of Bihar have a 35 percent horizontal share, under General Administration Department letter 12575 dated 09.07.2025. That share is only for women domiciled in Bihar. A backlog of 13 posts from the earlier advertisement is kept for persons with disability: VH 3, HH 3, OH 3 and MH 4. Reservation is for permanent residents of Bihar. A candidate from outside the state does not get the state's reservation.

Age

Minimum age on 01.08.2026 is 21 years. The date of birth is the one on the matriculation certificate, or an equivalent certificate. Maximum age on that date is 37 years for Unreserved, 40 years for Unreserved women, 40 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, men and women, and 42 years for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class, men and women. Persons with disability get up to 10 years over the upper limit, under General Administration Department resolution 962 dated 22.01.2021. Only one age relaxation applies where the advertisement lists more than one.

Fee and selection

The fee is Rs 100 for an online application, under General Administration Department memo 15568 dated 21.08.2025. Payment is by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. The bank's own charge is extra and is taken in the same transaction. The receipt stays with the applicant.

Selection is a computer-based test and work experience, out of 100. The test has 100 multiple-choice questions, in Hindi and English, for one hour, carrying 100 marks. A correct answer gets 1 mark. A wrong answer costs 0.25 mark. Those 100 marks are multiplied by 0.75, so the written component in the merit is out of 75. A candidate with 60 marks on the paper gets 45 on that scale. If the test is held in more than one shift, the commission normalises the scores. The syllabus is the B.V.Sc. and A.H. syllabus prescribed by the department, and it will be published separately on the commission website.

The qualifying mark is 40 percent for Unreserved, 36.5 percent for Backward Class, 34 percent for Extremely Backward Class, and 32 percent for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, women, and persons with disability. A candidate who lives outside Bihar, including a woman or a person with disability, has to reach the Unreserved minimum of 40 percent, and does not get the horizontal share. Experience marks are given only after the written test is qualified.

Work experience is out of 25. Five marks are given for a year of the maximum qualifying period, and 25 is the ceiling. A part of a year is counted as the number of days worked, multiplied by 5 and divided by 365. A year with zero days adds nothing. Contract veterinary work under the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department, and contract work in any department of the Bihar government, counts, along with service on a similar post in the Bihar government or in a non-private institution inside Bihar.

How the form is filled

The form is online. The recruitment row's Apply Online opens btsc.pariksha.nic.in. The applicant enters an Aadhaar number. When Aadhaar is not available, a PAN or driving licence number is entered, and that same document is brought to the test. The commission helpdesk on btsc.bihar.gov.in is 18003456221 and btssc-bih@gov.in, from 10:00 to 18:00.
