Age and reservation

Minimum age on 01.08.2026 is 21 years. The date of birth is the one on the matriculation certificate, or an equivalent certificate. Maximum age on that date is 37 years for Unreserved, 40 years for Unreserved women, 40 years for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class, men and women, and 42 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, men and women.

Persons with disability get up to 10 years over the maximum age, under General Administration Department resolution 962 dated 22.01.2021. A Bihar government servant with three years of continuous service gets five years for a post in a higher pay scale. Contract service on a similar post, in the Bihar government or in a non-private body inside Bihar, counts toward the age relaxation, with 01.08.2026 as the cut-off, and only for that same post. A candidate who was inside the earlier maximum age for this post on 01.08.2020, and who is over the present maximum on 01.08.2026, stays eligible when the other conditions are met. For an ex-serviceman the relaxation is three years plus the period of military service, and the actual age on the date of application is not above 57. An ex-serviceman gets only one of these age relaxations.

Reservation is for permanent residents of Bihar. The claim has to be in the reservation column of the online form. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe applicants submit a caste certificate and a domicile certificate. Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class applicants submit a non-creamy-layer certificate and a domicile certificate. A caste certificate alone does not carry that reservation. Economically Weaker Section applicants submit an income and asset certificate and a domicile certificate. The income and asset certificate is valid for one year from its date. The 35 percent share for women is only for women who are native residents of Bihar. A benchmark disability is 40 percent or more. The applicant marks Yes in the scribe column when a scribe is required. The commission's medical board re-examines the disability. The advertisement also states a 2 percent horizontal share for a grandson or granddaughter of a freedom fighter whose Central pension was approved. The certificate is the prescribed form from the General Administration Department, Patna. A plain identity note that the applicant is a descendant is not accepted. Kinnar, Kothi, Hijra and transgender applicants receive the Backward Class reservation.

Fee and selection

The application fee is Rs 100 for every applicant, under General Administration Department memo 15568 dated 21.08.2025. Payment is online only, by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. The bank's own charge is extra and is taken in the same transaction. The receipt stays with the applicant. The commission does not refund the fee.

Selection is a written test and work experience, out of 100. The written test is a computer-based test of 100 multiple-choice questions, in Hindi and English, for two hours, carrying 100 marks. A correct answer gets 1 mark. A wrong answer costs 0.25 mark. The minimum to qualify is 30 percent. If the test is held in more than one shift, the commission normalises the scores and then issues the score card. The department's syllabus for this post will be published separately on the commission website. For the merit, the percentage of marks in the written test is multiplied by 0.75, so that component is out of 75. A candidate with 60 percent gets 45 marks on that scale.

Work experience is out of 25. It is satisfactory service on contract, on a similar post, in the Bihar government or in a non-private institution inside Bihar, such as the Central government, a panchayat or an urban local body. The maximum is 25 marks, counted year by year, with proportional marks for a part of a year. The period is counted up to 24.09.2026. The certificate is Appendix-I, issued by the Director of Fisheries, a Deputy Director, or the District Fisheries Officer-cum-Chief Executive Officer. Marks are given only when the form claims the experience and this certificate is attached. Another format is not accepted. Experience marks go only to candidates who qualify in the written test. An age relaxation does not apply when the experience column is blank.

How the form is filled

The form is online on btsc.bihar.gov.in. The recruitment row's Apply Online opens btsc.pariksha.nic.in. The applicant enters an Aadhaar number for the photo identity, or a PAN or driving licence number when Aadhaar is not available, and brings that same document to the test. Certificates named in the form are uploaded by 23.10.2026. The commission does not accept a paper form, an incomplete form, or a form after the last date. A failed or wrong bank payment is not the commission's responsibility. The applicant keeps a hard copy of the filled form and the fee receipt.
