Eligibility

Age (as on 01.07.2026)

20–33 years. Relaxations for SC/ST, OBC-NCL, ExSM, PwBD and others are in the CEN age table. Date of birth must match the Matriculation / SSLC certificate.

Education

• Graduate from a recognised university / institute as prescribed in the CEN (already passed before applying; those awaiting final results should not apply).

• Certificates must show a date of issue or a dated marksheet / result-declaration letter for DV.

Selection process

Combined merit: 70% CBT + 30% CBAT. Only candidates who qualify every CBAT battery enter the merit list. CBT marks are normalised if held in multiple shifts.

CBT pattern and qualifying marks

Section split is indicative and may vary. Negative marking: 1/3 of a mark per wrong answer. Minimum CBT qualifying percentage: UR/EWS 40%, OBC-NCL/SC 30%, ST 25% (ExSM as per their community). PwBD may get a 2-mark relaxation if there is a shortage against reserved PwBD vacancies. Medium: English, Hindi and 13 regional languages listed in the CEN (locked at application).

Indicative CBT syllabus (CEN)

• Mathematics — number system, ratio and proportion, averages, percentages, profit-loss-discount, time-speed-distance, power and work, algebra, linear equations, AP, LCM/HCF, geometry, area and volumes, basic probability and statistics.

• Data analysis / interpretation — multi-source text, tables and graphs (charts, scatter, pie, statistical curves); inference.

• Logical — binary logic, syllogism, clocks and calendars, assumptions, blood relations, family tree, logic puzzles; English reading comprehension (main idea, supporting idea, application, structure, style) on history, society, literature, science, environment, abstract, mythology, technology and culture.

• Mental reasoning — analogy, series completion, coding-decoding, ranking and arrangements.

CBAT

• Shortlist: eight times vacancies from each community (UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, including ExSM).

• Questions and options in English and Hindi.

• Qualify with a T-score of 42 in each battery — no community relaxation.

• No negative marking in CBAT.

• Without Annexure VI / VI-A vision certificate you are not allowed into CBAT. ExSM use Annexure VI-A where applicable.

How to apply

1. Create or reuse an RRB account on rrbapply.gov.in (same account as other 2024–2026 CENs).

2. Authenticate with DigiLocker or Aadhaar if you can (stricter checks if you use other photo IDs).

3. Choose one RRB, zone preferences, exam language and live photograph (no pre-saved photo).

4. Pay fee online (UPI / card / net banking). Refunds after CBT go to the Aadhaar-seeded account as in para 10.3.

5. Modify only in the window, except Create-an-Account fields and chosen RRB.

Application fee

EBC is a fee concession (family income below ₹50,000), not a job reservation and not the same as OBC or EWS. Incomplete or rejected applications are not refunded.

Salary / pay

Pay Level-6, initial basic ₹35,400 plus allowances as per Railway rules. Zone allotment follows merit, medical standard, vacancy and options; RRBs may allot a non-opted zone in administrative interest.
