The Indian Navy has issued the Indian Navy Sports Quota Notification 2026 for Sports Quota Entry 02/2026 Batch. Unmarried male and female sportspersons may apply for enrolment as sailors. The ranks are Direct Entry Petty Officer (Sports Entry) and Direct Entry Chief Petty Officer (Sports Entry). The advertisement does not print a vacancy total. Eligibility

Education

10+2 qualified in any stream or an equivalent examination.

Sports standard

Petty Officer: a medal at Junior or Senior Nationals while representing a State, or international representation in an individual event; State or country representation in a team event at Junior or Senior National or international level; or a medal at Khelo India Games, Youth Games or above. Federation certificates must travel with the recommendation at final selection.

Chief Petty Officer: a medal at World or Asian Championship; a medal at the Asian Games; a medal at CWG or World Cup; India represented twice at Asian Games, Commonwealth Games or World Cup; or India represented at the Olympics.

Physical rules

Minimum height 157 cm for men and 152 cm for women. A pregnant candidate is disqualified. Gender reassignment surgery leads to UNFIT. Candidates already declared permanently medically unfit by any Armed Forces hospital should not apply. Get teeth cleaned and read tattoo rules on joinindiannavy.gov.in.

Selection

Poor training performance or sports results below the three-year probation bar can lead to discharge. DEPO sailors must represent a Service team at Nationals. DECPO sailors must represent the Service team twice in three years in team events, or twice in individual events, or win one National Championship medal in three years. No recruitment enquiry after six months.

How to apply

1. Fill one A4 form in the given format. The advertisement also points to joinindiannavy.gov.in for the form.

2. Write the entry, sport and achievement on a brown envelope. Example: Direct Entry Petty Officer / Chief Petty Officer, 02/2026, sport, NATIONAL LEVEL.

3. Punch and thread the papers: self-attested matric (date of birth), Class 10 mark sheet, NCC or sports certificate if any, domicile, 10+2 certificate and mark sheet.

4. Add one extra colour passport photo on a blue background, name and signature on the reverse. Missing or wrong photographs cancel the form.

5. Attach two self-addressed 22 × 10 cm envelopes; put a ₹10 stamp on one.

6. Keep the attesting officer’s name, office address and seal readable.

7. Post to The Secretary, Indian Navy Sports Control Board, Naval Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, Nausena Bhawan, Room No. W-014, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi 110010.

Pay

The advertisement also records promotion up to Master Chief Petty Officer and a commissioned-officer path after the prescribed exams.
